  • Step 3 – Evidence Review

After compiling the evidence, once our team evaluates your portfolio, the designated assessor for your case may contact you if any supplementary evidence is necessary. In the event of identified weaknesses, we can than book you in to some training to fill in the gap in your knowledge

  • Step 4 – Your Qualification

Our qualifications hold national recognition in Australia, equivalent to those attained through full-time study. They can prove beneficial for licensing or immigration purposes as well.

What is RPL?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment process used by RTOs to evaluate a person's skills, knowledge and experience gained through working and learning, in Australia or overseas, be it through life experience, work or other activities such as volunteering. RTOs can also provide a credit against units of competency, often shortening the time needed to undertake a qualification.

The four steps involved in receiving a qualification through RPL are:

  • A free, no obligation, RPL skills check provided by an experienced Skills Certified representative

  • Compiling and submitting your 'Experience Portfolio' to provide relevant documentation such as photos and videos of you on the job, references, previous qualifications, current resume etc.

  • A qualified assessor, from one of our partnering RTOs, will review the evidence and determine if you are competent in the units for that qualification via an RPL assessment

  • If the RTO assesses you as competent in all required units of competency, then a qualification will be awarded by the registered training organisation

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is RPL?

A definition by “Australian skills Quality Authority”-

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process that assesses your competency—acquired through formal and informal learning—to determine if you meet the requirements for a unit of study. (https://www.asqa.gov.au/faqs/provider-closures-students/what-rpl )

That means if you have the experience you may apply for a qualification.

  • How does the assessment process work?

Our consultant will discuss the process with you and, once it has been determined that you are suitable, you will need to gather evidence to prove your competence. This can include:

  • video or photographic evidence of the different tasks performed on the job

  • providing answers to questions about your experience and skills

  • completing practical tasks to demonstrate your knowledge and skills

  • a resume, workplace documents, references and a job description as supporting evidence.

The evidence you provide should confirm that you have worked in the industry for an appropriate amount of time, and that you can perform relevant tasks at an acceptable level.

  • What is the cost difference between RPL and TAFE?

In most cases, recognition of prior learning will save you money. You will not have to pay for resources and you already have the basic skills, unless there are gaps that require workplace training or class attendance

  • Am I eligible

Anyone with relevant prior learning can apply

How long does it take?

The process can be completed within a few weeks and depends on the amount of recognition required, and the amount of time it takes for you to gather all your evidence.
